Genetics Programme

Studies suggest that introducing the advanced diagnostic genetic technologies in the IVF process improves success rates. Chromosomal abnormalities are the main cause of failed IVF and miscarriage especially related to the woman’s age.

Pre-implantation genetic Screening (PGS) allows the assessment of all 23 pairs of chromosomes and thus improves the selection process before embryo transfer. Genetically normal embryos have better chance of implantation and lower risk of miscarriage.

Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) tests for a specific disease such as cystic fibrosis. We have a dedicated team of consultants, embryologists, and genetic counsellors who have extensive expertise in this field especially as CRGH is a referral PGD centre and is one of the pioneer clinics who offered this service in the UK.
