Our dedicated team can offer men and women, individuals or couples, a chance to assess your ability to conceive, putting you in control and allowing you to make plans for the future. Our assessments include a holistic examination of the physical, mental, emotional and social factors that could impact your fertility.

Our consultant Dr Vidya Seshadri is well known and respected in her field, and has published research on Prepregnancy care.

 

Female Fertility Assessment – £350, includes:

  • Initial consultation with Nurse Manager, including a holistic lifestyle assessment
  • AMH blood test
  • Ultrasound scan (antral follicle count, endometrial assessment)
  • Follow-up consultation with Doctor
  • Outcome letter and copies of results

*Please be advised that for female tests, your menstrual cycle may determine when we are able to perform these investigations. We advise that you come for your initial visit on day 2,3,4,or 5 of your menstrual cycle. Day 1 is considered to be your first day of bleed, if full flow has been achieved before 12 noon that day. If full flow is reached after 12 noon then ‘day 1’ would be the following day.If you are taking the oral contraceptive pill or using the Mirena coil, you will need to stop  this form of contraception for at least for 2 months prior to testing. If you use condoms, this will not have an impact on the testing.

 

Male Fertility Assessment – £150, includes:

  • Initial Consultation with Nurse Manager, including a holistic lifestyle assessment
  • Semen Analysis performed by an Andrologist to assess sperm count, motility and morphology
  • Follow-up Consultation with Doctor
  • Outcome letter and copies of results

*Males will need to abstain from ejaculation 2-3 days (no more or less) prior to undergoing the semen analysis, in order to obtain optimum results.

Fertility Lifestyle Changes

You can potentially boost your chances of conceiving (now and in the future) by making sure your body is healthy enough to become pregnant and support a developing baby. Both men and women can make lifestyle changes that may make them more likely to conceive. All women who are trying to conceive should have 400 mgm of folic acid daily to prevent the baby from having necual tube defects. In addition they should also be immunised for Rubella infection.

Eat healthily
A balanced diet will help ensure your body is healthy enough to become pregnant and can also help to keep sperm production at optimum levels.

Exercise regularly
Regular exercise will keep you fit and help you to maintain a healthy weight. It can also help to reduce your stress levels, in what can be an emotionally draining situation.

Drink sensibly
Alcohol may affect fertility and sperm quality, so aim to limit your drinking to the government guidelines of two to three units a day for women and three to four units a day for men.

Medication and drugs
Some prescription drugs can reduce your chances of conceiving, so if you are taking regular medication ask you GP about suitable alternatives. All illegal drugs should be completely avoided.

Stop smoking
Smoking has been linked to infertility and early menopause in women, and has been shown to reduce sperm quality. It is also a factor in premature or low birth-weight babies.

Keep cool
For maximum sperm production, the testes should be a couple of degrees cooler than the rest of your body. It may help to avoid tight-fitting clothing, saunas and hot showers.
