Semen Culture

Semen culture is performed when the uroandrologist thinks that chronic infection is the cause of subfertility. The semen sample is cultured to look for microbes and determine the appropriate antibiotic.

At CRGH, semen culture is also carried out before couples embark on IVF treatment. Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) will be recommended if the culture shows microbes that are resistant to certain antibiotics.
