Who should consider a Fertility Assessment?
More and more people are considering Fertility Assessments, regardless of whether or not they are actively trying to start a family. Reproductive health is a brilliant and quite sensitive indicator of overall health. For example, diet, lifestyle, exercise and stress all impact your fertility. For this reason, fertility assessments can help you to understand your health more broadly.
For those either actively trying to start a family, or who think they might like to at some point in the future, Fertility Assessments are even more valuable. By undergoing a quick and easy assessment you can give yourself the peace of mind that everything is functioning as it should be. For some people that means that they can start trying to conceive naturally. Similarly, people who are thinking about delaying starting a family for social reasons such as work or relationships, fertility assessments are a great way of understanding how long they might be able to safely delay, or whether they should consider fertility preservation like Egg Freezing or Sperm Freezing.
Medicine is becoming more and more proactive – looking to identify issues before they become problematic. Fertility Assessments are a great way to proactively insure something which is for lots of people one of the most important aspects of life; creating a family.
How does a Fertility Assessment work?
CRGH offers both female fertility assessments and male fertility assessments. These services have been specifically designed to be quick, easy and affordable.
Female Fertility Assessment: Female Fertility Assessments start with a lifestyle assessment as a person’s lifestyle has a proven impact on fertility. It is important for the consultant to understand your lifestyle as it will help to contextualize the test results. The next step is a blood test and ovarian scan to count the number of follicles on each ovary (antral follicle count) between cycle day 1 and 5. At the same time, you will have a blood test to measure your anti-mullerian hormone levels (AMH). The results of these tests combined will allow your consultant to assess your fertility. The results will be back with our consultant to discuss with you within 24 hours.
Male Fertility Assessment: Male Fertility Assessments start with a short lifestyle questionnaire which will help our experts to interpret your results in the context of your lifestyle, and recommend improvements if needed. You will then produce a semen sample for our expert andrologists to analyze. The results will be back with our consultant to discuss with you within 24 hours.
Once the results are returned our consultant will meet with you to discuss the results, which are also given to you to keep on record. Should they need to, our consultant will also provide you with expert advice on how to improve the results, or other steps you should consider to secure your reproductive health.
