What is involved in sperm freezing?

Here in The CRGH we offer sperm freezing for patients that are suffering from malignant diseases and will undergo chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. These patients can store their sperm and use it in the future when they recover and decide that they want to have a family. We also store sperm for patients that they need it as a backup on the day of their treatment, in case the male partner is not available or in case the male partner has problems producing a sample on the day of the egg collection. Additionally here in The CRGH we freeze sperm for donation purposes, for patients that are required to use sperm from a donor. Also we provide the patients with a variety of sperm donors. We import from abroad, from outside the UK. So here in The CRGH the patients have a choice of a pool of donors that they can use for their treatment.
