Male infertility is defined as the inability of a male to make a fertile female pregnant following a minimum of at least one year of unprotected sexual intercourse. Male factor is a contributing cause in approximately 30-40% of all infertility cases.
Male partner assessment by a specialist will allow:
- Diagnosis of a non-obstructive or an obstructive cause of male factor infertility
- Diagnosis of genetic disorders that can be associated with a low or absent sperm count or miscarriages
- Improvement in success rate of assisted conception treatment
- Treatment of some conditions to allow a couple to conceive naturally
We offer a variety of baseline investigations like semen analysis or more advanced investigations such as chromosome analysis (karyotype), cystic fibrosis screen and ultrasound scan of the testicles to identify the underlying cause of male infertility.
Your consultant will discuss the suggested investigations with you.
