Ovulation Induction (OI)
Ovulation induction is a fertility treatment for women who do not ovulate, usually presenting as irregular or even completely absent periods. The most common cause for this is a condition known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
Treatment is usually with Clomid, letrozole or gonadotrophin injections. During your treatment, you will require regular scans to monitor the response of your ovaries. Once the dominant follicle (fluid filled sac with a potential mature egg) reaches a certain size on ultrasound scan, you will be advised to have timed sexual intercourse. We can also offer you intrauterine insemination IUI treatment if required. Please refer to the IUI section for further details.
